The Most “Modern” Opera is Coming to Beijing in July, Komische Oper Berlin is Bringing the “The Magic Flute” -- Beijing Youth Daily

The Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” has been made into different opera versions since it was created. On 21st July, 2017, “The Magic Flute” created by Komische Oper Berlin and British Theatre Group 1927 jointly will come to Beijing. This opera performed last year in China’s Guangzhou and Shanghai, which gained high praise and good reputation, so it will be the second time it come to China.
The opera totally breaks the traditional and original opera-performing form. It won the World’s Opera Award in 2013 for Komische Oper Berlin, and helped Komische Oper Berlin won “The Year’s Opera House” voted by 50 international opera journalists.
According to the introduction, Komische Oper Berlin’s “The Magic Flute” uses the new media technology, which makes it unique and modern. Different from the traditional stage, this version uses the animation and projection from British Theatre Group 1927 to build the stage: the flute can float in the air, the flowers can bloom slowly on the stage, the elephant float on the glass of cocktail......Consultant of the opera Lanz said:”The technology gives more possibility to our show. Most importantly, we can change the stage setting in just a few seconds. When we watched the opera the first time through our eyes, we thought it was amazing and couldn’t believe! We were shocked and surprised by this magic, so I think the audience would have the same feelings to us.”
“The Magic Flute” was a legendary opera and the last opera by Mozart. Through more than 200 years, the latest version created by Komische Oper Berlin and British Theatre Group 1927 will show the Beijing audience the latest opera style and the magic imagination.
